Hapkido (ages 12 and up)
Hapkido is a Korean martial art incorporating hand strikes, kicks and joint manipulation techniques. Hapkido is based upon three principles: Hwa (harmony), Won (circle) and Yu (dynamic) which are incorporated into each technique. A Hapkido practitioner uses these principles to off-balance or break an opponent's energy. Once an opponent's energy is broken, a finishing technique is applied.
Master Emery has been making yearly trips to Korea since 1999 where he studies Hapkido and Kuhapdo under Grand Master Lim, Hyun Soo.
Grand Master Lim is 9th dan in Hapkido promoted by the founder of Hapkido, Choi, Yong Sul.
